Collaborative Beer exposition

Tailored Posters

This project is a creative collaboration between local Nottingham brands Wigflex record label and entertainment service and Castle Rock Brewery. The objectives of this collaboration were to create three beers in which we designed flavouring, type of beer and aesthetic choices for. As well as creating a pop-up stall participating in a ‘beer exposition’ in order to showcase our products. My self-imposed objectives for this project were to push myself more creatively and immerse myself in the creative aspects of this project rather than sticking to the idea generation involved.

Wigflex x Castle rock brewery

This project was a collaborative project partaken with a group of my fellow academics. I thoroughly enjoyed working as part of this team and believe we created work we should all be proud of. Delegating tasks and all appreciating each others ideas, mindsets and abilities all made this project enjoyable and created strong outcomes. This project pushed us to evaluate our strengths and weaknesses not only as individuals but as a group, prompting us to look at the consumer instead of taking personal style and interests into account too much.

Collaboration

We knew due to our research into brand Wigflex that we wanted to create a product based on drum and bass music, and that we needed a perfectly matched flavour palette to meet the expectations of Castle rock brewery. Our Drum and Bass themes consisted of Jungle, Techno and Liquid DnB, inspired by Wigflex’s own ‘monster-like’ character on their website we created our on characters for our cans. Trying to find a balance between being playful and fun but not coming across to juvenile due to the nature of the product. For our Liquid themed design titled ‘groovy juice’ we created a fluid looking character with beer flavours containing soft, caramel and malty notes. Our techno themed beer titled ‘Techtonic’ sported an alien like character and was created with metallic, zesty and fresh notes in mind and finally out jungle themed beer named ‘Beer Necessities’ with our funky crocodile design could contain tropical juicy and fresh flavours.

The Beers

‘Very well-established, well-rounded and professional’ - Industry professional

We ended this project with a ‘beer expo’ displaying our beers and promotional products to be judged by industry professionals. As a group we created two lots of promotional posters, beer mats, beer pump covers, tote bags and three Spotify playlists showcasing local and small artists which fit into our separated DnB categories. Coming in third place in this competition really reflected all the hard work we committed to throughout this project. Experimenting with disruption and uncertainty were big aspects within this project and were I feel my true creative abilities and style began.
